Family Elizabeth GRIERSON, ,of Lagg,   b. Abt 1478,   d. Yes, date unknown
    • Henry and his wife were involved in quite a few unsavoury incidents ,including inciting violence and sedition and planning to sieze the King, and were granted full remission by the sovereign on several occasions, much to the annoyance of other nobles.Henry was also charged with murder and looting in 1516.He again escaped punishment!

He seems to have obtained illegal possession of Closeburn,Auchenlak and Newton, in league with his half brother John ,whilst John was responsible for the gaurdianship of the rightful heir, his nephew Thomas.

In 1536 the Crown issued a commission to Thomas Kirkpatrick ,to Capture,Try and Punish John Kirkpatrick and "other tenants" of Closeburn.

It wasn't until 1585 that the attempted fraud was straightened out, when 15 gentlemen connected to the family ,determined and proved the correct succession. It was determined that John and Henry had attempted to undermine the minors rights. The fate of Henry and John is unknown.
