      "PENRITH CLEEVE, ot Kurraba-road, Neutral Bay, a prominent amateur rider in the Coonamble district 40 years ago, called in this week. His grandfather, the late Mr. John Kingdon Cleeve, was a son of a Dean of Exeter, England. His late father, also John Kingdon Cleeve, was Police Magistrate at Penrith, and his brother, the late Mr. M. H. Cleeve, was Police Magistrate at West Maitland for many years.

      His grandfather owned "Bungarribee" ,grazing property, near Blacktown, on which he trained the winner of the first race run at Randwick in 1860. Mr. Cleeve, a retired Sheriff's officer, was a member of the Sydney Hunt Club, which followed the hounds annually at Penrith and St. Marys. He had one serious fall in a race. He fractured his skull at Pilliga, and was unconscious for 17 days."
