  • Notes  Married:
    • James was a brutal and self centred husband, virtually abandoning Margaret ,almost immediately after their wedding , and leaving her with her parents. He provided no clothing , accommodations , or luxuries of any kind for her , but spent vast amounts on trips to France , living a very lavish lifestyle, and only seeing her on rare occasions. He would continually desert his family to persue his own pleasures ,his wife and children being left destitute, and reliant on her parents and friends for food and clothing. He would eventually resort to boarding in one of his servants houses ,virtually penniless from his wastrel lifestyle, eventually being excommunicated for slaughter and adultery with Jannet Campbell.

Margaret wrote her Will/Testament on 2nd October1622 ,sending a copy to to her sister Anna,Lady Marquise of Hamilton, beseeching Anna and her husband, the 2nd Marquise of Hamilton, to take gaurdianship of her young children.
