- In 1677, Marion's grandfather ,John Anderson ,the Younger of Dowehill, was persecuted for attending conventicles, and for having his son,Marion's father ,baptised by an indulged minister.Refusing to pay the five hundred pounds sterling fine ,he spent the next four months in the Tollbooth. In 1683 ,he was again imprisoned ,on a charge of rebellion. After the revolution,he was elected to Parliament and held the office of Lord Provost of Glasgow for eight years.
